A Far Cry From Yesterday: A Poem

Summing up the time of times gone by,

I can clearly see why they are left behind.

Yet my mind wonders why they are left to die,

I guess some things are better left mystified.

Like they say  ” the joy of today  takes away the pain of yesterday”,

nothing is left in delay while the past is left to decay,

it’s exactly where it belongs, far away, out of the sight of today,

it disappears day by day,

it’s no wonder why they say it’s a far cry from yesterday!

  1. Magnificent poem Sophia.

And thank you so much for the follow. 🙂

Your poem deals with the idea to me. About taking in the happiness of right now and forgetting yesterdays pains and see the good that will come forward. At least this is how I understood your poem. You can correct me if I am wrong.

I look forward to reading more of your work. 🙂

I am Charlie Zero the poet. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. 🙂

    1. Thank you Charlie for your lovely words and welcome 🤗 and yes you have hit the nail on the head, this is exactly what the poem means. And it’s more so that we naturally forget the pain of the past as we focus on right now and move gracefully into the future with a positive attitude. Like it’s so widely and wisely said ” what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger” I think this term originated from the philosopher Fredrich Nietzsche! A true genius he is! And thank you I will be posting my next blog on Thursday. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance too! Speak soon🙂
      Sophia 🙂

      1. Yes, Friedrich Nietzsche was the original man who quoted that phrase. So I take it your a Nietzsche fan? I love his work. I have all of his books. My favorite books by Nietzsche is ‘The Gay Science’, ‘The Will to Power’, & ‘The Antichrist’. Yes, he was a true genius, one of a kind and one hell of a thinker. 🙂

What’s your favorite book by Nietzsche?

Also, if I may ask you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. What’s your nationality?

P.S Sorry if this may come off left field, but you are incredibly beautiful and naturally gorgeous. I had to say that. I hope its not awkward. 🙂

      2. Yes I do love the work of Nietzsche, his stuff is brilliant 👌I’ve even written a blog post on a non existent blog I use to have, I might re post it on this blog as I still have it saved on a USB and it could be helpful information and hopefully an enjoyable read; the post was based on his book “The Gay Science ” as that’s where the aforementioned quote came from so I was intrigued to learn more and so I did, although there’s a lot more to learn 🤗
And thank you , it’s fascinating that people are curious of peoples nationality, I wonder what it is about it? lol 😄I’ll let you have a guess first 😊

      1. Aww, Cheers 🤗 I have you seen the blog post I posted today? You might also like that? It’s an article about the concept of the power of pain from Nietzsche philosophy. Though, I will have another poem post this Sunday 👍
