Winnie the Pooh Wisdom……

Like most tots I use to watch Winnie the Pooh and now looking back I see the amount of wisdom that is in this cartoon that I once thought was cute but silly. It’s weird how when you’re a kid it has a different meaning and when you get older you can see things from a different perspective, (in some cases things become a lot more clear and others its gets a bit fuzzy lol). Nevertheless this poem is not really about the weather outside it’s more to do with our inner sunshine Continue reading A Sprinkle of Sunshine……..

Are We Lost in Translation? Ferdinand De Saussure on Language and Communication

“Language is a system of signs that expresses ideas”

There are many ways in which we communicate, however the most obvious one is through spoken word, therefore we must speak the same language in order to understand one another.  The only one universal language we have is body language, this gives away everything about a person without even uttering a single word. However, you need to be an expert in that field to understand it fully, but for us everyday folks we rely on simple spoken and written form of communication to comprehend and state our thoughts and vice versa. Do Adults Crush Children’s Natural Perception? Maurice Merleau-Ponty on Phenomenology of Perception

“The perception of other people and the inter-subjective world is problematic only for adults. The child lives in a world which he unhesitatingly believes accessible to all around him.” Maurice Merleau-Ponty

My curious nature always wonders and ponders about the world, however no matter how much I see, read and experience etc, there is no one theory fits all situations, its more of a continuation of thoughts and theories that build up overtime, to try and make sense out of some sense! Due to our individual views of the world determined by our own unique experiences, we tend to construct instinctive assumptions, and thus perceive the world in a particular way.  Continue reading Do Adults Crush Children’s Natural Perception? Jean-Paul Sartre: On Why We Shouldn’t Live In Bad Faith

“His voice his eyes express an interest a little too solicitous for the order of the customer.” Jean-Paul Sartre

It was dark , bitterly cold, misty and getting into the late part of the evening when I got home the other night; this is usually the time when an automatic reflection process begins in my head.   And in the mist of my thinking I remembered a conversation; either on a podcast or a radio station I was listening to a while back ,about how people pretend to be something that they clearly are not. I couldn’t help but think if people do put on a mask wherever they go by playing a role other than who they really are; both out in the world of work/school and at home. If so, what are they trying to prove or hide?

Friedrich Nietzsche: On Why Painful Experiences are Necessary for Our Growth

“Life without pain is meaningless. Pain is the source of all value in the world. It is test of one’s true worth”. Friedrich Nietzsche

There are moments in our lives where we feel pain sometimes intense pain, and the thing with this pain thing is, well they are a pain to deal with!! Pain tends to come every now and then in our lives in different ways ,but when it does come, it storm in like a hurricane and has this slow yet compelling sluggish existence. For me the best way to describe that internal feeling is in one word and that is OouchArghhhhUrghhhhhOuch! (well a few words rolled in to one!) This Ouch-Argh-Urgh-Ouch feeling just takes over…… for that moment at least! Continue reading Friedrich Nietzsche: On Why Painful Experiences are Necessary for Our Growth
